Wedding Photography FAQs – York Wedding Photographer
What’s your wedding photography style?
I’m a York wedding photographer specialising in natural, relaxed, documentary-style photography. I focus on genuine moments — the laughter, the nerves, the hugs — without turning your day into a photoshoot. Most of the time I blend in and capture events as they happen. When I do step in (for portraits or group photos), it’s calm, simple guidance so you feel comfortable and look like yourselves.
My approach works especially well for York city weddings and smaller, intimate celebrations across North Yorkshire.
What does your wedding photography coverage include?
Most of my couples book 2–3 hours of wedding photography, which is my speciality — ideal for York registry office weddings, city centre venues and shorter celebrations. That coverage typically includes:
Arrival at the venue
The ceremony
Signing of the register
Confetti photos
Group photos
Couple portraits
This timeframe captures all the key moments while keeping things relaxed and efficient. If you’re planning something longer, extended coverage is always available.
How many photos will we receive?
You’ll receive at least 200 fully edited, high-resolution images, often more depending on your day. Your photographs are delivered via a private online gallery, ready to download and share with family and friends. I usually deliver your full gallery within one week of your wedding. No long waits.
Do you pose us?
Not awkwardly. During couple portraits, I give light direction so you feel natural and at ease. No stiff poses, no forced smiles — just genuine interaction.
Do you cover weddings outside York?
Yes. I’m based near York and regularly photograph weddings across York, North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s a historic York venue or a countryside setting, I adapt to the space and light to create relaxed, timeless images.
Do you do group photos?
Yes — and I keep them organised and quick. I recommend a short, pre-planned list of key family combinations so we can complete them smoothly and get you back to your guests.
Are you insured and do you bring backup equipment?
Absolutely. I carry insurance and always bring backup cameras and lenses. Weddings don’t get second chances.
What happens if you're ill or can't make it on our wedding day?
In the very unlikely event that I'm unable to photograph your wedding, I won't just leave you without options. I have a network of trusted professional photographers in the York area — colleagues I know personally and have worked alongside — and I would do everything I can to arrange suitable cover and brief them fully on your day.
Wedding photography is a commitment I take seriously, and I've never missed a wedding. But I understand how important that reassurance is, and I want you to know you'd be in safe hands.
