The Grand Hotel

The Grand Boardroom is the standout ceremony and celebration space, seating up to around 120 guests. Its dramatic wood panelling, high ceilings, expansive windows and views toward York Minster and the city walls create a truly striking backdrop for your vows and wedding breakfast.
Just a short walk from York train station, it’s a convenient choice for guests travelling in from outside the city. There’s ample space on-site for wedding morning preparations, with large, neutral-toned suites that photograph beautifully and provide a calm setting before the celebrations begin. In winter, the hotel becomes especially atmospheric, with impressive Christmas decorations that create a festive backdrop without the need for additional styling.
One practical consideration is that large group photos are typically limited to the area outside the main entrance, which works well but doesn’t offer much variety. For smaller group shots and couple portraits, however, you’re perfectly positioned. The nearby city walls and views towards York Minster provide a striking and unmistakably York backdrop just moments from the hotel.
For more intimate gatherings, the Chairman’s Suite offers classic elegance for up to 30 guests, featuring historic wood-clad pillars and an ornate fireplace that gives a warm, refined feel.
The hotel’s Legacy restaurant provides an alternative fine-dining experience for smaller wedding breakfasts or celebrations, blending historic charm with contemporary design and bespoke menus tailored to your day.
